A Fun and Active Circle Game
Cat and Rat is a lively and engaging group game where participants work together to help a ”Rat” escape while keeping a ”Cat” from catching it. This game encourages teamwork, quick thinking, and lots of movement, making it a perfect choice for outdoor or spacious indoor parties.
Materials Needed:
- No materials required, just an open space
How to Play:
Organize the group:
- Have the children form a circle by holding hands.
- Choose two children: one to be the Cat and the other to be the Rat.
Gameplay:
- The Rat starts inside the circle, while the Cat begins outside.
- The Cat’s goal is to catch the Rat by entering the circle, but the children forming the circle try to stop the Cat by lowering their hands to block their entry.
- If the Cat manages to get inside the circle, the children can help the Rat escape by raising their hands to let the Rat out, while still trying to prevent the Cat from getting out.
New rounds:
- Once the Cat catches the Rat, two new children are chosen to take on the roles of Cat and Rat.
Tip: Cat and Rat is a fantastic way to get children moving while encouraging teamwork and excitement. The game works well in both large and small groups.
